Custom Tab

Table of Contents   Previous Page  Next Page

The Custom tab displays custom field data for the group. Custom fields can be used for nearly any sort of data you wish, and they can be customized to become dropdown lists, editable lists, or ordinary text fields.

Each custom field accepts up to 40 characters of data.

You can change the custom field label directly on the Custom Tab (see Renaming below). All other field properties must be changed on the custom field list. In the example above, custom field 01 has been renamed to "Graphics Chair" and left as a standard text field.

See Maintaining Custom Fields for information about changing the definition of a field.

Renaming a Custom Field Label

You can easily change the name of any custom field label while you are on the Group Details window.

Note: All group records use the same field names and definitions, so changing the name on one record will cause a corresponding change on all other group records.  It is a good idea to think carefully about the kinds of data you want to track in custom fields before defining them.

1Double-click the field label you want to change. A dialog will enable you to enter the new field name.

2Enter a new name for the field, or delete the existing entry (leave it blank) to reset it.
3Click OK to return to the group details window and apply the new name.
