Using Text Frames
Professional Version Only
|
|
An text frame can be inserted anywhere in a document, and can be set up so that surrounding text flows around it. Text Frames are often used for precise position of images, blocks of text, etc.
Text Frames are essentially separate from the document itself. You cannot search or replace text in a Text Frame, and embedded fields will not work in them (because the system cannot "find" the embedded field to do the data replacement).
Once added to the document, various properties can be modified to change how it is displayed and how text flows around it.
Adding a Text Frame
| 1 | Choose File > Workspace > Documents |
| 2 | Open an existing document if necessary, and put the cursor at the position where the frame should appear. |
| 3 | Choose Actions > Insert > Text Frame. |
| 4 | A default-sized text frame will appear. |
Deleting a Text Frame
| 1 | Click the border of the frame to be deleted. |
| 2 | Press the Delete key on the keyboard. |
Modifying Text Frame Attributes
| 1 | Double-click the border of the frame |

| 2 | The Text Frame Attributes window includes three tab pages of settings: |
| • | Layout and Position - enables you to control the way text flows around the frame, its position, and alignment. |
| • | Size and Distance - enables you to control the actual size and scale of the frame, how much of a gap exists between the frame border and the surrounding text, and whether it is moveable or resizable with the mouse. |
| • | Frame and Color - enables you to control the background color of the frame, the width of the border, and the internal margin (between the text in the frame and the frame itself) |
