Login Problems

If you experience problems logging in to MemberTies, it is normally caused by one of the following:

A firewall or antivirus program may be preventing the server from starting. If you are running any sort of firewall or antivirus software on your computer, read this.
Too many connections: If the Active Connections window appears when you try to login, it means the number of seats allowed by your license are already in use.  You won't be able to log in until someone else disconnects.
Improper Case: You are not typing the password in the proper case, i.e., the Caps Lock key may be on. This is the most common cause of login problems.
Illegal User: You are trying to use a user name or password that is not valid for the selected database.
No 'mtdb.ini' File: The system cannot find the file that contains the list of known databases. The entries in this file are read by the system when the Login window opens and are used to fill the Database dropdown list. If the file is missing, or there are no entries in your Database dropdown, choose the "(Specify New…)" option and create a new database profile.
Invalid Database: The database selected in the Database dropdown does not exist, or is not a MemberTies database. In this case, you should choose the "(Specify New…)" option and create a new database profile.
Old Database: The database you are trying to open is from an older version of MemberTies and needs to be upgraded. In this case you will receive a message prompting you to upgrade the database. If you choose "No", you will not be able to start the program. The database must be match the required version for the software. Choose Yes when prompted to upgrade the database.
Database Not Listed: If your database is not listed in the Database dropdown, you need to create a new profile for it. This typically happens when someone has given you a database to use. Since your database has no profile, it will not appear in the Database list. Follow the instructions in New Install - Existing Database to get your existing database set up.
Deleted User Name: Your user name has been removed. Contact your administrator in this case.

Feel free to contact support if you continue to have problems.
